From Coach Gibbs:
“Don Meredith has been my friend and business partner for 25 years now. He helped me get out of financial crisis in the early ‘80’s, helped me establish a home for troubled youth and even helped me launch Joe Gibbs Racing while I was still coaching the Redskins. He and his wife, Sally, are counselors and experts on relationships and have been dear friends to me and Pat through thick and thin. I can think of no better expert on relationships for the Game Plan for Life.”
Official Player Stats:
Don Meredith is Founder and President of Christian Family Life, Inc. and Executive Vice President of Joe Gibbs Racing, Inc. When he and his wife Sally married in 1967 both were on the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ. With a group of five other couples they taught marriage seminars across the U.S. beginning in 1971, eventually launching the FamilyLife Ministry in 1976 with Dennis and Barbara Rainey. The core principles found in the Meredith’s book, Two Becoming One, are still taught at the FamilyLife “Weekend to Remember” conferences and are also available in small group study, www.2becoming1.com. Most recently pastors in Cuba have embraced these marriage concepts and the ministry is spreading rapidly.
In 1977, Don, with a few others, launched the Fellowship Bible Churches, first in Dallas, then in Little Rock and other cities. In the early 1980’s Don relocated to Washington, D.C. to work with congressional couples in the area of marriage and bible studies. While there, Joe Gibbs asked Don to help him start a youth home for at-risk boys from the D.C. area called Youth for Tomorrow. It is a 24/7 residential facility with on-site school located on 200 acres and still flourishes today. Since then, Joe and Don have worked side by side in ministry, racing and other business ventures.
In 1991, Joe asked Don to help him launch Joe Gibbs Racing which now employs more than 450 people and fields five cars in the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series. Game Plan for Life is a project Joe and Don have been dreaming about pursuing since Joe’s second stint as the head coach of the Washington Redskins.
Don and Sally have been married for 42 years, reside in Huntersville, NC and have four children with four great spouses by their sides and ten grandchildren—five boys and five girls.
