Joe Gibbs and Game Plan for Life have recently released two new resources, the Game Plan for Life Bible and Chalk Talks, a devotional book. Gibbs is preparing to go out on a media tour to let everyone know about these products. This video provides an update about the new products and also looks at the purpose of the Game Plan for Life ministry and the resources available through it. Thank you for joining us on our Game Plan for Life update.

We have some exciting things to go over with you and the first thing I want to talk to you about is the media tour we are going to be doing over the next two days. Basically, we are going to be on a lot of radio and TV shows reviewing some new materials we have.

I want to go back and review our original idea for Game Plan for Life. Why do we have the website? It really started with the project of the book, Game Plan for Life. Our reason for writing the book was that we wanted to show people that God is our head coach and He has left us a relevant game plan for life and that is His word, the Bible. I had said when I speak and give my testimony about the Bible; people usually object to it in one of three ways:

1. “Hey Joe, I’m interested in modern relevant everyday topics and it is hard for me to find them in the Bible.”
2. The second thing they may say to me is “Hey Joe, that book was written 2,000 years ago. I want something relevant to today.”
3. “Joe, that’s a thick book with some strange language that is hard for me to understand.”

We set out to answer all those questions and prove to them there is a modern relevant game plan for life in the Bible. We hired a research team to go out in America and we asked what they were struggling with. It came back with 11 topics but you don’t want the ol’ football coach writing on those topics. So we went out and got 11 scholars to write about those topics. These are men who have spent their lives studying what God has to say about those topics. Then my story was kind of woven through there to show people that when the average Joe (that’s me) followed the game plan for life, the Bible, I had some success and when I veered away from it I got pounded. The first thing you have to do is give your life to Christ by getting on his team. So we lay out in this book how you get on God’s team. You simply just ask Him with a simple prayer:

God, I know you sent your son, Jesus Christ, to this earth and He lived the perfect life. You allowed him to go to that cross for my sins. I’m a sinner. Come into my life and forgive me of my sins and be my Lord and personal Savior.

It’s that easy.

The second thing we came out with was this New Testament Study Bible. It has 14 topics in it. It talks about sin. It talks about judgment. It talks about The Trinity. It answers all those questions that most people would have when it comes to considering the Bible and what God has left for us along with our journey as a Christian. I used it with my kids from the time they were very small. So we have a new Game Plan for Life New Testament. Here’s what we do on this website. We want to give this to you. The next thing we did as far as equipping everyone (if you are going to play the game you’ve got to have the right equipment). That’s shoulder pads and helmets if its football and having the right fire suit to drive a race car. To prepare you we did a Game Plan for Life small group study. It takes the 11 topics and lays it out with videos that were filmed here at the race shop and on the football field. It is extremely well done. LifeWay came out with it and we want to make this available to anyone out there who would like to purchase it. I think this is a great study for your church or any small group.

The fourth thing that we want you to know is available are the little tracts that we give out. If you want to be a witness to others, this has my life testimony in it. We also have these available free on our website.

Then we have the new material which is why we are doing the media tour over the next two days. I am extremely excited about this. Again, this is part of preparing you. As you embark on the Christian battlefield that you are going to be involved in – your Christian walk – the first thing is a book with 40 devotionals. These are special little things that came up in my life when I was going through real struggles or if something was really exciting for me also. At different times I laid those out. Over the next two days we are going to let people know it is available at Amazon and other outlets. I think there might be something in these devotionals that might really hit you.

We have also come out with a Game Plan for Life Bible. We know there are a lot of Bibles out there but basically what the Game Plan for Life Bible does is take those 11 topics we laid out in the Game Plan for Life book and what the scholars had to say about them. For example: If it is Creation, it would be John Lennox talking about it in Genesis.

So for the next two days we will be laying out this material and letting people know it is available. Obviously we want to be on God’s team but the other part of that is we want to be equipped so we can play the game plan for life and win and also be a witness and testimony to others that are playing on our team.

The other thing I want to do today is introduce a new member of our Game Plan for Life team. It is someone that played for me a number of years – Renaldo Wynn. He played in the NFL for 12 years, was a great star and went to Notre Dame. This is an example that if you want to win in football as a coach you get the great big guys so that way your defenses work and your offenses work. If your guys are bigger than everybody else, you are gonna have a chance at winning. We are excited about Renaldo joining our team. He has a number of things he is going to be working on. One of those is going to be prison ministry. When we travel on the road and speak for Game Plan for Life in different cities, we try and plan a prison visit in connection with that. Renaldo will be working on the prison ministry.
