Proverbs 4:23, Heart Problems

April 25, 2016

“I’ve got heart problems.”  That is the last thing you want to hear a loved one say.  But what if the problem didn’t lie within the physical heart, but the part of one’s soul that determines our desires. I’m talking about the spiritual heart. That place which houses our innermost feelings, our love, our compassion, our courage, and our purpose.

The bible teaches us to guard our hearts because it determines the course of our lives (Proverbs 4:23).  We must be careful to not harbor negative feelings of hatred, envy, pride, and resentment towards others because acting on these things could change the course of our lives forever.  Let’s take the time each day to pray this simple prayer:

Create in me a clean heart, O God,

and renew a right spirit within me.

-- Psalms 51:10
