ABOUT THE

FIELD MINISTER PROGRAM:

Game Plan for Life has teamed up with the College at Southeastern and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety to fully fund the North Carolina Field Minister Program. The program is a fully paid, four-year Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministry with a secondary emphasis on counseling. Inmates serving sentences ranging from 12 years to life sentences are eligible to apply for the program. In the first year of the program, 30 inmates were accepted as students into the program. 30 additional students will be accepted into the program each year, until reaching full capacity at 120 students.

AN INSIDE-OUT

APPROACH

The Game Plan for Life and North Carolina Field Minister Program is different from traditional prison ministry programs. Often the goal of prison ministries is to make a difference from the “outside in.” Church leaders and volunteers visit the prison to lead Bible studies and hold church services. Game Plan for Life’s program for inmates is fundamentally different in that we train men to be influential leaders within their own faith tradition. Men receive a fully- accredited undergraduate Christian-based liberal arts education degree, and many men then return to their original prison to serve as spiritual leaders and to serve as pastors in their facility. These men live and serve inside their correctional facilities 24/7. Game Plan for Life’s goal is to change rehabilitation facilities across the state of North Carolina.
