It's not easy to walk away from millions of dollars, but Adam LaRoche did. Following a couple instances, he decided to walk away from his MLB career. The first instance was a mission trip in an effort to fight sex trafficking. The second was his team wanting him to bring his son around less.

Adam LaRoche was raised in a Christian home but did not embrace his faith until asking himself, "Why are we here? What is our purpose on this earth?" He believes the answer is "to spread God’s word". He said: "I heard one chaplain put it this way: What do you want written on your tombstone? Do you want ‘Adam LaRoche: Gold Glove, batting average, hit so many homers, and has a million dollars in his bank account,’ or do you want ‘Adam LaRoche: Man of God, integrity, raised a great family, loving.’ Let’s be honest: I don’t know anybody who wants their stats."
